Living your best life

Stress is an inevitable part of life, learning how to effectively manage it can mean the difference between happiness and despair. Whether one is coping with daily stressors or trying to manage a serious mental health concern, changing your outlook can help you gain new insights and promote growth.I believe strongly in the mind, body, soul connection and tend look at mental health from a holistic perspective. Numerous diseases, both physical and mental can be healed, or at the very least managed and improved upon, if we look at them and address them naturally.

If we take a look at the foods/drinks we put in our bodies, our sleep patterns, exercise regimen, stress management skills, and supplements/vitamins we are taking, amongst other things then we are looking at our health holistically. The goal is not to improve just one aspect of our malfunctioning body, but rather to improve all aspects of it. When we make important changes and do the work, we have the ability to heal our whole selves (the mind, being of most interest to me as a mental health professional) and not just treat our symptoms.

By teaching therapeutic skills such as: identifying feelings, managing negative emotions, utilizing coping skills, setting appropriate boundaries, appropriately communicating with others, and building self-esteem, we can begin to create balance in our lives. When our lives are balanced there is continuity and clarity, these factors help promote change and growth.
